Vice Mayor Chappie Jones’ office can help to coordinate a tour of City Hall on the day of a Council meeting (most Tuesdays) for students of schools located in District 1. These tours are meant to introduce our youth to local government and get them engaged with civic processes through fun and motivating experiences at City Hall.
The day generally includes a tour of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. library, a tour of San José City Hall, a brief meet & greet with Vice Mayor Jones and Mayor Sam Liccardo, and an opportunity for students to lead the pledge of allegiance at the City Council meeting. You are welcome to request a shorter, partial tour and work with my staff on what best fits your schedule.
