In June 2022, Rosemary Kamei was elected into the San José City Council with over 60% of the popular vote. She represents District 1 in West San José, which borders the cities of Campbell, Cupertino, Santa Clara and Saratoga. The district encompasses the Winchester neighborhoods, Santana Row, Stevens Creek Blvd, and the Westgate area.
Prior to her election into the City Council, Rosemary has long been known for her public service and contributions, something she has always prioritized. She feels privileged to have spent 17 years as a Director of the Santa Clara Valley Water District and involved with the community through various nonprofits, the business sector and serving on various government committees, such as the Santa Clara County Board of Education. Right before election to City Council, Rosemary also served as the Chief Development and Innovation Officer at the Silicon Valley Education Foundation.
Rosemary holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from San José State University. On weekends, she can be seen cycling or hiking. Rosemary is the mother of two grown children, Ellen and Jonathan. She is married and resides in District 1 with her husband, Tom.
