| Message from Councilmember Pete Constant |
Involving the citizens of San José in community events as well as in citywide issues is one of my main personal goals. As part of the City Council I voted in favor of adopting the Sunshine Reforms and we are now implementing the first phase of that reform. All City Official’s calendars are available for public access on the city website. I encourage you to visit the city website and become familiar with accessing the information that will keep you “in the know.”
Celebrating good weather and delicious food prepared by the Association of Retired Firefighters and Police officers, Festival in the Park served 1,176 meals and 700 ice cream sandwiches to festival attendees on September 29th in Hathaway Park. Fire Engines from Station 14 plus the cool-looking Sharks Engine lined the street entrance to the festival as three mounted police patrol officers gathered crowds of equestrian-loving children at their hooves. I applaud all of the participating city services who set up information booths at the festival as well as the citizen’s of San José for attending this worthwhile event. Our special appreciation goes out to the San José Police Department-the flyover from the police helicopter, Air Two, brought the event to new heights, the San José Fire Department, San José Parks and Recreation Department, San José Public Library, and the Strong Neighborhood Initiative. My personal thanks go out to the Westmont High School Band for their willingness to open the festival with live music including the Star Spangled Banner, also to the Mark Wilson Band, and to local band, Altrasound, lead by City employee Jason Starling.
Your Neighbor,
