San Jose - A San Jose City Councilmember will be joining a policy committee for the National League of Cities. Pete Constant will represent the city in maters of public safety and crime prevention.
He will represent both San Jose and the state of California as he joins several other people from across the country in meeting twice a year. He says his role is to bring the stories and successes of Silicon Valley which make it a safe place to live. Those policies and initiatives will then be brought to the national stage.
Constant said he hopes to not only share what San Jose has been doing right during his one-year term on the committee, but to learn from other cities what they've been doing to cut down on crime and improve public safety. He also says he's looking forward to bringing his prior experience as a street cop to the table.
The National League of Cities represents about 19,000 cities, villages and towns across the country.
