During the February 27, 2018 City Council meeting, the Climate Smart San Jose Plan was presented to and approved by City Council. In 2016, City Council directed staff to develop a sustainability action plan to address the issues of climate change.
The Climate Plan outlines four core principles and nine strategies to work toward a sustainable and climate-smart city, a vibrant city of connected and focused growth, and an economically inclusive city of opportunity.
The Climate Plan is not a sacrifice, but rather a creation of the “Good Life 2.0” for our community. The Plan addresses concrete issues that will improve our community. San José is a national leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions; with this plan, the City will continue to lead the nation in addressing climate change.
